I'm Back...

Ok ok ok ok ok..... I'm here! It seems like I have been gone forever, and by the emails that I have been getting, I am convinced that some of you think that I really have fallen from the earth. I took the last 8 weeks off from shooting new clients, so that I could do some traveling... I have had so MUCH FUN!

Since I have been back, we have just finished redoing my whole studio as well with new displays, canvas art, furniture, etc... It's pretty much a complete transformation, and so much more me. I might get around to taking photos of that, but I wanted to share much more interesting things.... PHOTOS!!!

Ok, I just finished from a trip back to Chicago with my dear friend Dan, where we photographed the lovely Hilary back in November last year...well, we did it again, but this time, Hilary brought some friends too!! I could photograph them all day... literally... But I will let you be the judge...

I have missed blogging, and I will do my best to update again sooner than later... :)

Goodness where do I start...

I have so many images that I would like to share. It's been a great month of traveling. I have been to some really cool places, and have met even cooler people. I am almost done with my travels. I am in California right now, and will be there until this Sunday...then you better be ready. I will be on a posting spree. I have so much to share with you all... and judging by my stats, I still have people waiting for me to post {THANK YOU}!!!

Talk soon -- I cant wait to share my travels!

OK... I should probably share one. Some of you might have seen this, but I love it!

Win a workshop seat - and benefit a charity...

Thirstrelief

Did you know:

1.1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water, and nearly 2 million people die each year - due to waterborne disease. 90% of which are children under the age of 5... Every 15 seconds, someone dies of a waterborne illness - that's 4 people every minute, 240 every hour, and 5,760 people EVERY DAY. All as a result of one thing: They don't have clean drinking water...

Here's your chance to donate to this worthy cause, and win a 90 minute mentoring session (held in person at WPPI - or over the phone), AND a free seat at my October workshop.

Click: Thirst Relief Auction

A few rules:
• You must register to bid.
• If you are going to bid - make it count! This auction benefits the millions of people in the world that go without clean drinking water (I can't even imagine what that would be like), so the more money you bid, the more that goes to this cause (hint: Workshop tuition is $1375).
• The auction ends: February 12 at 10:15pm

Oh Yeah, One more thing:
This is a charity auction. I hope to raise money towards this cause. If the dollar amount for this auction doesn't reach $750 in bids, the workshop seat is no longer available, and I will bid on this auction myself. $750 is my goal here, but let's see if we can beat it! Remember: The winner of this auction will receive a 90 minute mentoring session with me - as well as a complimentary seat at my October workshop!

Happy Bidding!

We also encourage that you become active in the cause of Thirst Relief by becoming a monthly $5 donor.  Five dollars saves a life.  It would be an amazing gift and a visionary movement if every photographer helped save one life a month for one year!

Beautiful Family...

I love seeing families evolve. I had the pleasure of photographing their most recent session a little while ago. Here's a little recap of the last few years with them. :)

If you believe, pass it on!

OK California people... San Diego is here!

Sandiego_2008

So I know I have been MIA, but I have just had the most productive week in the coolest cities. What I can bring back from my trip is this:

1) I am ready to release a California workshop, and based on the poll that I did last week, the first location will be in San Diego. Registration is open now. We have an amazing studio... like the coolest EVER to have the workshop at, and will have beeeautiful models to boot! I seriously can't wait for this workshop.

Please read the below criteria, and if you would like to register, click the button at the end of this post...

San Diego Workshop Dates: March 28, 29 & 30 2008
Price: $1375
if paid in full using the button at the bottom of this post

What this workshop will contain:

Day 1: Studio lighting... (Fundamentals of, lighting techniques, sales strategies, what works for ME and my style of lighting).

Day 2: The Urban Session - Natural lighting. (How to find the best locations in an Urban environment (finding the best textures, clothing selections, and selling the 'idea' of a boutique Urban Session to a client, clothing recommendations, etc...)

Day 3: Photoshop techniques...
• See how I put a unique spin on my images, creating a very unique collection. Learn every technique that I use to make my images appeal to clients and photographers alike.
• Editing in real time, without the use of any actions, using techniques inspired by the images and style in which you shoot.

And a whole lot more including: Album design, contracts, pricing yourself effectively, the importance of consistency in shooting and editing, and a great workbook as well.
* Registered parties will receive the complete list of topics discussed.

Who this workshop is for:

1) Anyone who wants to break out of a rut in creativity and incorporate new shooting styles, photoshop techniques, and unique products.

2) Professional photographers currently in business who are looking to improve their techniques and learn some new tricks.

3) Photographers that are 'scared' or 'intimidated' by studio lighting. I promise that you will benefit from this class... and you will walk away UNAFRAID!

What this workshop is NOT:

1) A weekend to hang out with your friends. While you will inevitably make friends at this workshop, that is not the focus. The focus is on content.

2) A way to learn how to market to the masses. My technique lends its self to a lower volume now. Having seen both the good and bad side of photographing clients on a very busy schedule, and at one point having 5 staff members, learn how I lowered my volume by two thirds, while simultaneously being more profiable. This is NOT a marketing class on how to bring a mass amount of clients to your door. This is a class on bettering your self and your editing/photography techniques through deliberate sales while utilizing a more boutique photography approach. I have been in business for 5 years, and in that time have photographed thousands of children. I have learned the in's and out's of running a portrait business (the good and the bad)!

3) A place to tinker with photoshop. Your image editing skills are GUARANTEED to improve with this workshop. A solid knowledge of Photoshop is NOT required. My technique is actually very simple, while also being very effective. Photoshop professionals and beginners alike will see the benefits of this course. The proof is in the product. You will see the result immediately - in class.

4) A hardcore approach to business for higher volume studios. No pie charts, excel spreadsheets, and MBA business strategies here. I have seen both the lower volume and the higher volume of being in business, and I prefer to cater to a more limited - higher dollar clientele. Learn why I made that choice, and what motivated me to price myself more effectively, and do less work with a higher quality, for less people with a higher price tag.

The cost of the workshop is: $1450 ($1375 if you register and pay in full using the button below). The San Diego workshop is limited to 20 photographers.

To Register, please click the following button. After registering, you will receive a questionnaire that will help me get to know you and your goals for this workshop. This info sheet is important as our workshops are ever-changing, and we want to know what you want to learn. Please complete the sheet when you receive it.

Senior Favorite...

I don't photograph very many senior boys, but if anyone were to change my mind, I think this guy would be it! What an amazing time I had working with him. We both suffered the cold to get these shots, but I think it was worth it. :)

Stay tuned...much more still coming -

2007 Favorites...V.1

I think I am going to start a round of posting... I hope you are all ready! The next few (ok, so not really a few) posts will be some of my favorites from the past year. I am very grateful to my clients for allowing me the chance to capture them. I know there is no way to possibly express that, but I am.

I have finally figured out my blogging issue. I need to post within a theme. It's almost like I need to have a purpose. This may sound silly to some, but when I sit here thinking about what it is that I want to share, the truth is that there is so much -- so much that I just don't know where to start. So what happens, you ask? I don't post anything... Then I get swarms of emails asking if I have fallen off the earth. Nope. Not the case.

Ok, here's to 2007 (V.1). And there *will* be more... just you wait! ;)

When Left to our own devices....

What would you create? Meet Hilary... I hope to be working with her again in the near future.

What I love about photography is the ability to bring out the individual. What I love about the individuals that I photograph is their ability to continually inspire me.

Thanks for viewing!

Happy #21 to me!!!

Well......not 21 YEARS -- 21 Megapixels! ;)
Mk3

Yes, I bought Canon's newest camera...the 1Ds MarkIII! For the last two years, I have been shooting with the previous version: the 1Ds MarkII, but I decided to upgrade.

What that means for clients - Your images will be even higher quality.

What that means for photographers - My previous 1Ds MarkII is FOR SALE! :)

I am asking $4700 for it, and it is in near mint condition. The only exception is a minor paint scuff on the top of the body. It's in otherwise perfect condition... I take incredible care of my equipment, and can provide a list of people that I have sold equipment to in the past. Please contact me for a link that will include photos, and a spec sheet.

Please email me here (serious inquiries only please): info@briannagraham.com

Stay tuned for images.... and lots of them. :)
